Cappuccino at Home
How to Make a Cappuccino at Home
You can easily make a Cappuccino at home with just a few ingredients and items you already have in your kitchen. It is made using three ingredients: Espresso coffee, steamed milk, and milk foam.
Most people like one third of each of these three ingredients, but if you need a bit more caffeine, you can also increase the amount of espresso you add.
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
5 minutes | 0 minutes | 1 |
Ingredients
- 1/3 Espresso Coast Roast Organic Espresso
- 1/3 Steamed Milk
1/3 Milk Foam
Directions
1. Make your espresso or coffee as you usually do. You can make it in your drip coffee pot, French press, or pour over.2. Steam your milk. You can do this in one of two ways.
4. In your coffee cup, add in your espresso, then your milk, and top it with your milk foam.
That’s it! It’s easier than it sounds, and you do not need a fancy machine to make it.
Yes, it won’t have those cute designs on top that you get when you order from your local coffee shop, but it will taste just as yummy (or even yummier since you put your heart into making it)!
Variations for Your Cappuccino at Home
While the traditional way to make it is 1/3 of all three ingredients, there are several ways to change it up and make it your own.
Here are just a few options.
• Increase the Amount of Espresso: If you enjoy a Cappuccino at home with a bit more caffeine, or a “double” Cappuccino, you can increase the amount of espresso and decrease the amount of steamed milk and milk foam. The breakout for this would be ½ espresso, ¼ steamed milk, and ¼ milk foam.
• Add Flavors: You can also add some syrup or a sweetener to change the flavor. Some of the flavors we typically use include:
- Chocolate
- Hazelnut
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla
- Caramel
- Sugar Free Flavors: Most of these are also available in sugar free varieties.
Other Additions: You can also use a few things you might already have around your house.
Chocolate: You can grate up some chocolate and add it to the top. If you love a chocolatey flavor, you can also add more grated chocolate after you add the espresso and steamed milk and before you add the milk foam.
Vanilla Extract: You can also add some vanilla extract. I would add just a few drops at a time until you get your desired flavoring.
Cinnamon: You can also add in a little Cinnamon from my spice cabinet. Sometimes I’ll add a little chocolate and cinnamon together.
The great thing about making your Cappuccino at home is that you can mix and match flavors to make something your own. You can also have different flavors each morning with very little extra work.
Enjoy and let us know how you like to change up your morning coffee routine!

White Chocolate Latte Recipe to Easily Make at Home
Are you looking for a way to shake up your morning coffee routine? How about trying this simple White Chocolate Latte recipe?
I fell in love with this drink years ago and now make it from home all the time. It’s easy to make and is SO tasty!
It starts with a few simple ingredients including milk (whole milk or half & half is best), some white chocolate, and espresso coffee.
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
5 minutes | 5 minutes | 1 |

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup whole milk or half & half
- 3 TBSP white chocolate or white chocolate chips
- 8 oz espresso coffee
- Optional: 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar
Directions
- Start this drink by making your espresso.
- As that brews, add both the milk and the white chocolate chips to a small saucepan. Stir them over medium-low heat until the chips are melted.
- Add the mixture from your saucepan to your coffee cup and then pour in your coffee.
If you want more than one cup, double or triple the recipe so you only have to melt the white chocolate chips with the milk once. You can always heat it up for a few seconds in the microwave. You can add in more flavor with either some vanilla extract or a little sugar. You can add both if you prefer.
Notes
Alternative White Chocolate Latte Recipe
You can also make this with fewer steps by using white chocolate syrup instead. To do this, follow these steps.
1. Brew your coffee.
2. Combine the milk and about one teaspoon of syrup to a mason jar. Add the lid and shake it until it doubles in size.
3. Remove the lid and microwave it for about 45 seconds.
4. Add the steamed milk to your coffee cup and pour in your coffee.
The second option is even faster and easier. You will not get the foaminess from the milk that you would if you put it in the saucepan, but this option does not take as long. Clean up is also a cinch with this option.
You can then add some sugar or a little vanilla extract if you want to change up the flavor. You can also add more white chocolate syrup if you want more chocolate taste to your drink. I sometimes even add a little whipped topping for an extra special treat.
Iced White Chocolate Latte Recipe
On those hot summer days, it’s nice to have a cool treat. It’s easy to turn this recipe into an Iced White Chocolate Latte. It just takes a little time for your coffee and milk to cool down.
Here are the steps to make an Iced White Chocolate Latte.
1. Brew your coffee and let it cool down to room temperature.
2. Heat your milk and white chocolate chips. Once the chips are melted, set this off to the side to cool a little.
3. Pour a cup of ice into a tall glass.
4. Add the milk and chocolate mixture to the glass and pour in your coffee over the top.
5. Stir it up and enjoy!
This is even easier when you use the syrup.
1. Brew your coffee and let it cool down.
2. Add a cup of ice into a tall glass.
3. Pour your milk and syrup in the glass with the ice.
4. Add in your coffee.
5. Stir it up and enjoy!

Dublin Iced Coffee
With the temperatures rising, the Dublin Iced Coffee is a great way to cool off this summer. It’s made with just a few ingredients and offers you a refreshing drink with a little pick me up.
You will start with some cold espresso coffee (our Organic Espresso Whole Bean Coffee is perfect). You can make regular espresso and let it cool or you can make cold brewed coffee.
You will also need simple syrup, heavy cream, Irish whiskey, and some stout beer. Something that I love is that it only takes about 5 minutes to make. You may have to add in about 10 to 15 minutes if you need to make the espresso hot and then let it cool.
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
10 minutes | 0 minutes | 1 |

Ingredients
- 2 oz cold espresso coffee
- 3/4 oz simple syrup
- 2 oz stout beer
- 1-1/2 oz Irish whiskey
- 1/2 oz heavy cream
Directions
- Add the espresso, simple syrup, stout beer, and Irish Whiskey to a glass and stir.
- Add ice to fill.
- Slowly add the heavy cream. It will make its way through the mixture with some of it going all the way to the bottom of the glass.
- After you’ve added all of it together, it’s time to enjoy your Dublin Iced Coffee. How easy was that?
How to Make Your Own Simple Syrup
You can either purchase simple syrup or make your own. If want to make it a bit more personal, doing it yourself is simple. Here is the recipe:
1 cup white or brown sugar
1 cup water
Combine the two ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring them to a boil and stir. Continue stirring until the sugar dissolves. Wait until it cools before you add it to the Dublin Iced Coffee recipe.
Alternatives to the Original Dublin Iced Coffee Recipe
You can also make a few changes to give yourself additional ways to enjoy your Dublin Iced Coffee Recipe.
One of my favorites is to leave out the Irish Whiskey and replace the heavy cream with Bailey’s Irish Cream. You will want to add another ounce or two of espresso to create more volume.
You can also add some whipped topping. This will really dress it up!
In addition to the whipped topping, you can also garnish it with some ground cinnamon.

Coffee Espresso Milkshake
If you are looking for a tasty Coffee Espresso Milkshake, you will love this simple recipe. It includes just three ingredients and is perfect for milkshake lovers.
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
5 minutes | 30 minutes | 1 |

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup espresso, cooled
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 TBSP of Baileys Irish Cream or Kahlua (optional)
Directions
- You will start by brewing up some espresso coffee. We recommend our Coast Roast Organic Espresso. You will need 1/3 of a cup for this drink for each serving you make. You will want to let is cool enough, so the ice cream does not melt when added.
- Once your espresso is cool, place in the blender. You will then add two cups of vanilla ice cream and ½ cup of milk.
- Start up your blender and mix it to your desired consistency. If you want it thinner, make sure to mix it for a longer time. You can also mix it less for a thicker consistency. This will require you to eat it with a spoon.
Notes
While the recipe doesn’t take long to make, it does take some time for the coffee to cool. Overall, it will only take about 5 minutes to throw this together, but about 20 to 30 minutes for your coffee to cool down a bit. You can always add a few ice cubes to the coffee to help it cool down faster.
The fun part about this recipe is you can also add in extra or different ingredients for a new flavor every time. If you are looking for an adult’s only version, add a little alcohol. Follow the steps above, but add in two tablespoons of Baileys Irish Cream or Kahlua. It makes for a fun dessert or a fun treat on the weekends. You can add the alcohol to this either before or after you mix it up in the blender.
Substitute Vanilla Ice Cream
If you love that chocolaty taste, then use chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla. Both of these flavors make for the perfect milkshake.
Enhance Your Coffee Espresso Milkshake with Flavored Syrups
If you love your milk shake bursting with flavor, you can also use flavored syrup or extract.
Personally, I love to add in peppermint, hazelnut, or chocolate syrups. Only add a teaspoon of each to ensure you don’t overwhelm it with sweetness. You can always add more.
When I use chocolate ice cream, I love adding cinnamon, toffee, or chocolate mint.
Add in Cocoa or Hot Chocolate to Your Coffee Espresso Milkshake
Another thing I love to add to the simple recipe is cocoa or hot chocolate. Cocoa is best for those that want the rich chocolaty taste while using vanilla ice cream. The hot chocolate will also have some sugar so it’s another great option.
You can sprinkle them on top or add it to the blender to mix it all in. You can also do both for an even larger burst of chocolate flavor.
Sprinkle or Blend in Pieces of Candy
You can also add some chocolate chips, M&Ms, or Snickers to your recipe. With the chocolate chips and M&Ms, you can easily add them to the blender. I like to freeze the Snickers (or other candy bars) first and them break them into pieces to mix in after the blending is done.

Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub
Are you looking for an easy recipe to make a Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub from home? You are going to love our simple four ingredient recipe that you can make with just four simple steps.
Why is this one of our favorites? It combines two wonderful smells, coffee and chocolate, that bring comfort to many. Plus, coffee is good for the skin (reduces inflammation and redness). So, bring this comfort to your skin with a DIY body scrub. This exfoliating scrub is infused with oils, so not only does it smell wonderful, it will leave your skin feeling soft after use.
Once you realize how easy this is to make you'll no longer need to buy body scrub again and you can give as gifts too!
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
10 minutes | 0 minutes | n/a |
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw sugar
- 1/4 cup organic unrefined coconut oil
- 2-3 tbsp organic cocoa powder (depending on how rich you'd like it)
- 1/2 cup organic Coast Roast coffee (freshly ground)
Directions
- Grind coffee to a medium coarseness.
- In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and ground coffee until well incorporated.
- Add the coconut oil and mix well. Add more coconut oil or raw sugar to adjust consistency. You want it to be soft and easily scoopable, not too runny and greasy. Mixture should be pretty dry, but clump together.
- Transfer mixture into jars or plastic containers for use in the bath.
- Enjoy!
Notes
Since this contains coconut oil, it will be more solid at cooler temps and softer at room temperature.
To Use: Mix with a little water, then rub all over skin and rinse. You can rub it on dry or wet.
FAQs
How long will it last?
The great thing about homemade sugar scrubs is that they last a long time. Store them in an airtight container and they will last a month or two. If you store them in the fridge, they will last up to six months.
You can easily tell if the scrub is going bad as the smell will start to change.
Can you use it on your face too?
Since facial skin is more sensitive, we do not recommend using the Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub on your face. The sugar makes it a little too harsh for the soft skin and can leave little tears.
Should I use it before or after my body wash?
Body scrubs help remove dirt and dry skin, so you will always want to use it first. After you wash it off, use some body wash or soap to remove the rest.
How often should you use the Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub?
It’s best to use this up to 1 to 2 times a week. This way, it won’t hurt your skin and will leave you with a soft, silky feel.
Do I use it on wet or dry skin?
You will only want to use the Chocolate and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub on wet skin. With the sugar, you will find it is too difficult and damaging to use on dry skin.

Espresso Martini
The espresso martini is a brilliant after-dinner drink, but for those not wanting caffeine late in the day it's also perfect in the late afternoon when you need a cocktail with a little pick-me-up.
My recipe only includes three ingredients and it's simple to make. It begins with vodka and a coffee liqueur (e.g. Kahlua), and we give it a little extra kick with a shot of chilled organic Coast Roast Espresso.
Follow my simple steps to create your go to martini.
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
5 minutes | 0 minutes | 1 |

Ingredients
- 1-1/2 shot vodka (top shelf or your personal favorite)
- 1-1/2 shot coffee liqueur (Kahlua or equivalent)
- 1-1/2 shot organic Coast Roast Espresso (cold)
- Coffee beans for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Pour vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso into cocktail shaker.
- Add ice to shaker and shake well. (count to 10)
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with floating coffee beans. (optional)
- Enjoy!
Notes
There are two variations to this basic recipe. The first variation adds a hint of sweetened chocolate to the glass, making this martini even more irresistible and delicious. The second variation adds a squeeze of fresh lemon to the shaker before mixing (not too much). The lemon adds a unique element and twist to this already delicious beverage.
Make sure to also put your glass in the freezer up to 20 minutes before you make your Espresso Martini. This will show your true bartending skills and impress your friends or family.
Additional Espresso Martini Variations
Want to try something different? Here are just a few additional variations so you can have a different taste each time you make it.
Spiced Rum
Instead of vodka, make your Espresso Martini with a little spiced tequila or spiced rum. It’s perfect for those that want even more kick from this classic cocktail.
Salted Carmel
Follow the same recipe above but add a small splash of Salted Carmel syrup before you shake it. It will turn this into a Salted Carmel Espresso Martini, and you are going to love it!
Other Flavors
You can also add other syrup flavors to change it up from time to time. Peppermint is one of my favorites. Others I love to use include cinnamon, French vanilla, and hazelnut.
If you want to go crazy, you could add some fruity flavors such as raspberry or cherry.
Make sure you only add a small splash to ensure the syrup flavor is not too overwhelming. You can always add just a touch more to enhance it.
Serve it Over Ice
You can also use this same recipe for a nice cocktail over ice. Instead of using a martini glass, simply use a tumbler, add some ice, and pour in the final cocktail. This drink was originally served this way before martini glasses were around.
Any way you serve it, the Espresso Martini is easy to make and a fun, tasty treat. It is great for parties, as a sweet treat when you arrive home from work, or on the weekends.

Tips to Make Lattes at Home
Did you know it is simple to make lattes at home? It requires just a few steps with ingredients you most likely have sitting around your house already.
The best part is that you can also easily make lattes at home without a machine. You can choose from hot or iced lattes. You can also add some flavor to make a mocha, peppermint, or vanilla flavored latte.
Five Steps to Make a Standard Latte
PREP TIME | COOK TIME | SERVES |
---|---|---|
5 minutes | 0 minutes | 1 |

Ingredients
- 1/3 cup organic Coast Roast espresso (or strongly brewed coffee)
- 2/3 cup milk (any variety you like)
Directions
- Brew a serving of your favorite coffee. (strongly brewed is best)
- While coffee brews, add the amount of milk you prefer in your coffee to a mason jar. If amount of milk is unknown, start with 2/3 cup.
- Add lid to the mason jar and shake well until it increases in volume. ALTERNATIVE METHOD: If you prefer, instead of shaking you can use a whisk AFTER you've heated the milk. Vigorously whisk back and forth for 15-30 seconds until the hot milk becomes frothy.
- Remove lid and microwave milk for 30-45 seconds.
- Pour coffee into your favorite mug and add your freshly steamed milk. Spoon the remaining froth on top of your latte.
That’s it! You can easily make the steamed milk as you are waiting for your coffee to brew.
I love to add the steamed milk to my cup first and then add in the coffee. I do not know why, but it always tastes better to me.
Additional Flavors
This is where you can add a touch of creativity.
Mocha Latte
To add some chocolate flavor to your latte, simply add some cocoa or hot chocolate. You will want to add one to two tablespoons of flavor to the milk before you shake or heat it.
I will also sometimes stir a little cinnamon into the mix for a slightly different flavor.
Peppermint Latte
If you want a rich peppermint flavor, you can add peppermint syrup or extract. You will get more flavor from the syrup, but the extract is a good substitute as most people have it available in their house for baking.
Add the peppermint to the latte after you have combined the steamed milk and coffee. Stir for a more balanced flavor.
Peppermint Mocha Latte
You can also combine the steps above to create a tasty peppermint mocha latte.
Vanilla Latte
You can follow the same process as with the peppermint but add vanilla extract instead. This will give you a tasty Vanilla Latte morning treat.
How to Make Iced Lattes
It is also easy to make iced lattes from home. You will follow the process to create a standard latte above, but you will pour your espresso over ice once it is brewed and you do not have to steam your milk. Before you pour your espresso over ice, let it cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes. This way the ice won’t melt right away.
Here are the steps.
- Brew your espresso
- Add about a cup of ice into a tall glass
- Add your espresso to the glass of ice
- Add your milk to a mason jar and shake
- Pour your milk (or half and half) into the tall glass
- Enjoy!
If you want to add some chocolate, make sure to add that to the milk in the mason jar. You can also add peppermint, vanilla, or other flavors after you have combined all the ingredients.
Additional Thoughts
As you get more familiar with the process, you can design your own unique creations. You might like more or less of one ingredient. You might also like the extract better than the syrup.
To add a little sweetness, add as much sugar or sugar substitute as you like once you combine all the other ingredients.
Making lattes at home is easy and a fun way to start your day with the perfect cup of coffee.

Homemade Cafe Mocha
Not to be confused with Coast Roast Mocha Java organic coffee beans. Made popular by coffee shops, the Cafe Mocha adds chocolate to your favorite coffee.
In this recipe, you can use either our popular Coast Roast Espresso or our Mocha Java. The espresso is a darker roast and offers a more intense coffee flavor.
You can also choose between steamed or heated milk. Both are easy to make at home.
Enhance your morning java with this three-ingredient homemade Cafe Mocha.

FAQs
What is the difference between a Cafe Mocha and a Latte?
There is not a huge difference between the two. They are essentially the same beverage with Cafe Mocha adding chocolate to the drink. Both are rich, creamy beverages with a more subtle coffee taste. Lattes are made with espresso beans but Cafe Mochas can be made with espresso beans or a medium roast Mocha Java blend. However, you will find most coffee shops will use espresso beans for their Cafe Mochas to create a richer, deeper flavor.
What is the difference between a Cafe Mocha and a Cappuccino?
Cappuccino has less milk, a stiff head of foam and no chocolate. A cappuccino boasts a much stronger espresso flavor than a latte due to having less milk and more foam than a latte. A Cappuccino is a distinctly layered even distribution of Espresso, steamed milk, and foamed milk.
Will a Mocha Java blend taste like a Cafe Mocha?
No, they are completely different. A Mocha Java blend is the oldest known coffee blend dating back a few hundred years. It was a joyous combination of beans from the Yemen port of Mocha and the Indonesian island of Java. They provide a wonderful balance between the fruity and bright taste of the beans from Africa and the rich, deep flavors of the beans from Indonesia. A Cafe Mocha is a latte drink made popular by coffee shops which includes the addition of that delectable chocolate flavor.
